4 DIY Valentine’s Day Decorations

Lovebirds

4. Make some lovebirds

Greet your sweetie with a pair of lovebirds hanging from the door! To create your own pair of lovebirds, like in the photo above:

  1. Cut out two teardrop shapes, two hearts, and two small triangles from scrap fabric or recycled felt.
  2. Pin the teardrops together, right sides out, then pin the heart wings and the beak in place.
  3. Sew all the way around your birdie, leaving 1/2″ open on the bottom.
  4. Stuff your bird with a polyfill alternative.
  5. Sew the opening closed.
  6. Grab two vintage buttons and hold them where you want the eyes to be. Sew them in place, making sure you knot your thread behind the button, so your knot will be nice and hidden.
  7. To create a loop for hanging, grab at least 6-8″ of embroidery thread and a needle, Send the needle through your bird at the top, just in front of the wing. Tie the thread into a loop, and you’re ready to hang!
  8. Repeat one more time to make your second lovebird.

Do you guys have any fun DIY Valentine’s day plans in the works? I’d love to hear what you’re making in the comments!
