St. Patrick’s Day Crafts: DIY Embroidery Hoop Wreath

St. Patrick's Day Crafts: DIY Embroidery Hoop WreathMarch is right around the corner! It’s time for St. Patrick’s Day crafts like a DIY embroidery hoop wreath!

I’m a sucker for DIY wreaths, so with St. Patrick’s Day less than 20 days away (March 17), I was ready to create a St. Patrick’s Day wreath! Foam wreaths are far from eco-friendly, so I like to find other wreath forms from my recycling bin and my craft stash. I’ve made a cardboard wreath, a wire hanger wreath, and a picture frame wreath. Another unique wreath form to add to my list — an embroidery hoop! Here’s how you can take that average embroidery hoop and turn it into an awesome wreath:

What You Will Need:

1. A large embroidery hoop

2. Fabric. Make sure you use an eco-friendly fabric like hemp or organic cotton.

3. Book pages or other recycled paper

4. Recycled cardboard

5. Scissors

6. Crayons

7. School glue. If you can, use eco glue!

8. Hot glue/hot glue gun

9. Black permanent marker (optional)

How To Do It:

1. Cut your fabric to the size of your embroidery hoop. Then, insert the fabric into the embroidery hoop and tighten it.

2. Cut off any excess fabric around the edges of the embroidery hoop.

3. Draw or trace a shamrock onto your book page. Cut it out and color it light green. (Optional: Trace the shamrock with a black permanent marker to make the color really pop!)

4. Put the shamrock on your recycled cardboard and draw a larger shamrock. Cut it out and color it dark green.

5. Glue the two shamrocks together with school glue.

6. Draw and cut out the letters to form the word “lucky.” Then, color the letters light green. (Optional: Trace the letters with a black permanent marker.)

7. Hot glue the letters and the shamrock directly to the fabric of the embroidery hoop.

Pretty cute, right? You can hang it with organic ribbon from the screw of the embroidery hoop, or simply hang the hoop on a nail.

Where would you display this adorable wreath?
