How-to: Upcycled Cork Pirate Ships

Wine Cork Pirate Ship

Let’s start with the main mast. Grab your smaller remaining rectangle, and stick the pin through the printed side of the paper, about 1/8″ from the top right in the center of the long side. Then, stick it back through the paper about 1/8″ from the bottom of the unprinted side. Do the same thing with the larger rectangle, so it sits on the pin below the small one.

Gently slide the bottom of your pin into the cork at the center of the top, about 1/2″-3/4″ from the front of your pirate ship. Slide the pin in until the paper flags start to bow out slightly. Gently arrange them until they look all flag-like. You can use the side of a spare pin to gently pop out any kinks in your paper.

To make the pennant, open up your folded triangle, and put glue stick on the wrong side of the paper. Fold the paper back over around another straight pin, then very gently press that pin into the front of your pirate ship at an angle.

That’s it! Repeat this process until you have your whole pirate fleet. Happy crafting, me hearties!
