If you want to use an applique from a particular fabric you like, first iron the freezer paper, shiny side down on the wrong side of the fabric. Turn it over, and cut out the applique. The freezer paper creates a stiffer fabric, making it easier to cut out the shape, especially around any intricate corners and curves.

    1. Freezer paper is a paper that’s lined with light plastic on the other side. Shiny plastic side is where you put your food and wrap it to freeze. But crafters found that the shiny side can be ironed onto fabric to make the paper adhere temporarily. So this applique technique works great! One major brand in the U.S. is called Reynolds but other companies make them too. Thanks for asking! 🙂
