We’ve crafted with freezer paper for many projects here on Crafting a Green World. We’ve made stenciled neckties and personalized bunting. And as you might have guessed, freezer paper is a great way to make templates and stencils to use up fabric scraps.
Here is how to use freezer paper to make a few types of templates or appliques.
1. Names or initials
Print out the name or initials you want to use. Place the shiny part of the freezer down on the template and trace it using pencil. This step is not necessary if you are artistic and can draw the letters right onto the freezer paper. Then, using sharp and pointy scissors, cut out the letters.
Next, iron the template, shiny side down onto the fabric you want to use as an applique. Then, cut it out. For small shapes, it’s best to baste the applique and then sew it onto the fabric you want to use.
