DIY Upcycled Clothing for SUMMER!

1. Turn Two T-Shirts into a Shirred Summer Top

Who can resist a good t-shirt reconstruction? This is a pretty simple tute, and it’s versatile, too. It might be fun to mix up different colors and designs, rather than sticking to all white. I also really love the optional tie for the neck. I bet you could have a lot of fun braiding different fabrics together for that. Who says you have to use all t-shirts, right? You could raid your scrap bin for some skinny scraps to braid to make the tie a real eye-catcher.

Not sure how to shirr? Here’s a video explaining how shirring works:

  1. Your video is so well done!  Thanks for uploading this easy DIY top.  I wear white clothes, it’s hot in Miami, I have a sewing machine, why not!!

On the shirring do you use regular thread on the top and the elastic thread on the bobbin?
