Be a Part of the You are So Very Beautiful Project

You are so Very Beautiful Project

You are loved. You are enough. You are so very bright.

You are so very beautiful.

Aren’t these the kinds of messages that you want your loved ones to believe, and the kinds of messages that you’d like to believe about yourself? They’re the kinds of messages I know that I need to hear, and the kinds of messages that I want my daughters to hear, as well.

With Betsy Greer’s newest craftivism project, You are So Very Beautiful, you can give these kinds of messages to anyone who might need them, even though they’re total strangers to you. Maybe your message will show up in the life of someone who’s never heard this particular message before. Maybe your message will show up in the life of someone who really needs to hear it, right this very second.

Greer is collecting handmade affirmation signs to leave out for the public in three separate cities, all on the same day. The lucky cities are Baltimore, Vancouver, and London, and the lucky day is February 7. This means that to participate, you’ll need to have your affirmation sign to the sites by February 5. And if you happen to live in London, you may be able to help put out the signs–email their volunteer coordinator for details.

Greer perceives the You are So Very Beautiful project as a way to “better stand up for ourselves,” and to pass on positive messages to someone who “needs to hear those words as much as you do.” To read more about the motivation behind You are So Very Beautiful, read Greer’s blog post here.

About the Author

I'm a writer, crafter, Zombie Preparedness Planner, and homeschooling momma of two kids who will hopefully someday transition into using their genius for good, not the evil machinations and mess-making in which they currently indulge. I'm interested in recycling and nature crafts, food security, STEM education, and the DIY lifestyle, however it's manifested--making myself some underwear out of T-shirts? Done it. Teaching myself guitar? Doing it right now. Visit my blog Craft Knife for a peek at our very weird handmade homeschool life; my etsy shop Pumpkin+Bear for a truly odd number of rainbow-themed beeswax pretties; and my for links to articles about poverty, educational politics, and this famous cat who lives in my neighborhood.
