The Hunt for Organic Thread

spools of thread
By now I’m sure you guys are pretty much on board the eco-friendly fabric train, but what about the thread we use to sew up all of that gorgeous hemp, vintage, and organic fabric? Sure, thread is just a small part of your craft project, but if you think about all of the sewing you do each year, those spools start to really add up!

Organic Thread

Organic cotton thread seems to be the most common option out there. Near Sea Naturals carries organic cotton thread for regular sewing machines and for sergers in a few natural shades and in black. You can also find neutral and black organic thread at Create for Less.

What was a bit tougher to track down was organic thread in other colors. I don’t know about you, but brightly colored thread is one of my favorite craft supplies! I love my rainbow of a thread organizer and using all of those beautiful colors to add accents to my projects. It looks like Fiberactive Organics offers a selection of colored organic cotton thread.

I was also able to track down some beautiful organic cotton embroidery thread in a rainbow of colors from Plum Studio.

So spill it, my fellow green seamsters! Have you found other sellers who offer colored organic thread? The search is on!
