How-to: Create an Inspirational Bunting with Stencils and Stash Fabric

Sew the fabric on three sides, leaving the top open. When the paint is dry and heat-set, you should have two copies of every letter that makes up your message. Lay the letters out with one copy of the message going the right way, from left to right, and the second copy just above it, with the letters going backwards, from right to left. Each letter is the buddy of the letter directly above or below it–you’ll be sewing those two together, back to back.

Face the two pieces of fabric with the letter buddies wrong sides together, and sew them together on three sides, leaving the top open. Trim any uneven edges with sewing scissors or pinking shears, but the seam is meant to be left unfinished.
