How to Make an Eraser for Your DIY Chalkboard

how to make an eraser

Got a homemade chalkboard that needs cleaning? Here’s how to make an eraser that hangs from the board for easy wiping and storage!

We love chalkboard paint crafts around here, but once that DIY chalkboard is done, you’re going to want to change up what’s written on there from time to time. At home, I’d been using a rag to wipe off my kitchen chalkboard whenever I needed to change it out, but a rag is…well…unsightly! It also was taking up valuable counter space, so I decided it was time to figure out how to make an eraser that could hang from a hook on the chalkboard itself.

This project is super simple and uses materials that I bet you already have in your crafty stash! Ready to whip up an eraser for your chalkboards? Click here for the tutorial!

  1. Thanks Becky. I live in UK, have 4 grandchildren who all like me drawing pics on my whiteboards (and they do their own). I need more whiteboard erasers, will try your idea for making chalkboard erasers… or rather, my wife has agreed to try it out – she does all the sewing! One of my grandkids lives in Oregon, so most of my drawing for him is on Skype.
