We’re committed to repurposed, eco-friendly fibers around here, and that means we want our crafts to be sustainable from the inside out!
Here are some resources for organic cotton and recycled batting that you can use in your next quilting project!
- Quilting Warehouse sells organic cotton batting by the yard.
- Over at Quiltbug, you can find batting made from recycled soda bottles.
- If you need a specific size, like just enough for a crib sheet, Modern Organic Fabrics has you covered.
- Dianne at Thrifty fun explains how to make your own batting from plastic grocery bags.
So, is there anything I’m missing? How do you guys make sure your quilts and crib sheets meet your green crafty standards?

My new hobby seems to be rehabilitating vintage patchwork quilts and quilt blocks found in secondhand stores. I love giving these treasures new life!

Anyone to use 50/50 cotton batting from a futon? My area has stopped recycling it?
