5. Fabric
Garage sales and thrift stores are fabulous places to find fabrics for sewing and crafting! If you’re like me and you love vintage, you will definitely enjoy finding patterned or perfectly faded fabrics. Here are some of my favorite fabric finds:
- Fabric Bunting — I found all of the fabric for this project at a local thrift store!
- How To: Make a Dog Bed — Becky used a reclaimed comforter and sheet to make an adorable dog bed!
- How To: Sew a Circle Skirt from a Vintage Bed Sheet — Amanda from Ninth Street Notions found a thrifted vintage sheet and sewed it into a beautiful circle skirt.
I’m not very talented in the sewing department, but fabric is always a great medium to craft with! A few weeks ago I found a vintage yellow/gold fabric and I cannot wait to do something with it!
Now that you’re “informed,” are you inspired? What items would you look for at second hand places?

Good topic to cover. It’s strange to me though how reusing is trendy when many my age and older have done this most of our lives. I buy as many supplies as I can from thrift stores, etc. I feel fortunate when I find a large stash of fabric or yarn someone gave to the thrift shop 🙂

I love buying craft supplies at thrift stores, and re purposing trash into supplies. Not everyone has the time to scour thrift stores however. Also when you have a project and you need an awesome blue tie, you might not be able to find one that same day at your local thrift store. That’s why I started Courgette, my Artfire shop to share my vintage and repurposed craft supplies.
