Don’t you love a sugar scrub? There are lots of ways to exfoliate and moisturize your skin, but for me, a sugar scrub turns an everyday shower or bath into a spa-like experience. They feel rich and luxurious, they smell amazing, and they leave your skin feeling silky soft.

I created this spiced sugar scrub for winter months to help ease a little of the chill out of your hands, feet, or anywhere else you need a little extra moisturizing power.

There are a few things that I love about this sugar scrub recipe:

  • It uses pantry ingredients. I didn’t have to shop for a thing. If you have a well-stocked spice rack, you won’t have to shop either.
  • In only uses four ingredients. That means it only takes a few minutes to make. I think I spent longer hunting for a jar to store my scrub in than I did mixing up the scrub itself.
  • It makes a small batch. This is perfect for individual use. If you want to gift this spiced sugar scrub, though, you can multiply it to make as many as you want.
  • It works. I’m not a fan of cold weather, and the warming combination of clove and ginger warm and wake up your skin while the sugar and olive oil exfoliate and moisturize.

Note: The warming properties of this scrub mean that it’s not suitable for sensitive areas. Do not use this on areas like your face, for example, especially if you have sensitive skin. Try Andrea’s cleansing face scrub recipe recipe instead.

Warming Spiced Sugar Scrub Recipe

This gentle, spiced sugar scrub is perfect for warming and soothing winter skin. Make this winter sugar scrub for yourself or as a holiday gift. Or both!To make your small-batch spiced sugar scrub, you will need:

+ 1/2 cup organic sugar
+ 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
+ 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
+ 2 tablespoons of olive oil

+ small glass jar to store it. Your jar needs to hold at least 1/2 cup. Read about how to clean and deodorize old glass jars here!

Directions

1. In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar, ginger, and cloves with a fork until they’re well combined.

2. Add the olive oil, and stir until you have an even mixture.

3. Store in your glass jar. If your jar is exactly 1/2 cup, you’ll need to press the scrub down to get the lid on.

4. To use your winter sugar scrub, scoop a little bit out with clean hands, and massage into hands, feet, knees, elbows, or anywhere else you’d like to exfoliate and moisturize. Rinse off any excess sugar with warm water. Your skin will feel oily at this point, but that extra oil will come off when you towel dry.
