sew the elastic waistband closedStep 6. Cut a length of 3/4″ elastic to your final waist measurement, and fasten a safety pin on one end.

Use the safety pin to help you thread the elastic through the waistband casing. Pull both ends of the elastic out of the casing, and overlap them by 1/4″. Sew the elastic together using your sturdiest stitch. Them smooth the elastic back inside the waistband casing, and sew the opening shut using the same stitch that you used to sew it originally.
