Like most crafters, I find it hard to throw out any scraps of felt that I acquire when making bigger projects. That two by two inch square of yellow felt will be used for something, right? Eventually, though, my box starts to burst with scrappy goodness. Here are ten projects utilizing those felt scraps that you’ve collected over time.
1. Over(ly)-Easy Pincushion
Speckless gives us a cute pincushion tutorial. Now I know what to do with that little square of yellow fabric.
2. Clean or Dirty
3. Tape Measure Cover
Make your tape measure pretty by using this tutorial from Whip-Up. A fabric scrap yo-yo adds a nice touch of pattern and color.
4. Tree Stump Trivet
This trivet project from Martha is a great way to use strips of felt you have laying around. If you don’t have that much brown, don’t be afraid to make your trivet using whatever colors you have on hand.
5. Little Pink House Wall Hanging
Melissa, from Little Pink House, shares her house and flowers project on Sew, Mama, Sew! The flowers in this tutorial are a great way to use the rainbow of colors you have.
6. Hand-cut Mural
Over on Design*Sponge, there’s a how-to on making a felt scrap mural for your wall. Renters especially, can enjoy this project as it beautifully personalizes your space without being permanent.
7. Gift Tags
These felt scrap gift tags from the Purl Bee are a great, eco-friendly way to adorn your Christmas packages this year.
This felt scrap pom-pom tutorial from Creative Jewish Mom is a fun and easy project. Smaller pom-poms could be made into hair ties for kids, and larger ones would look great hanging from the ceiling as decoration.
9. Rolled Felt Headband
Thin strips of felt are used to make a headband from Blue Cricket Design. If you don’t have enough to make a full headband, you could easily make rolled bobby pins.
10. Felted Wool Scraps Jewelry
This fun and simple project from Leethal shows us the many ways to use up bits of felted wool to make beautiful jewelry. If you’ve never repurposed old sweaters or felted wool, Becky gives us some information and links to get you started.
