Happy Earth Day Eve!

il_430xn_24641066.jpgEarth Day is tomorrow and it is bound to be the most celebrated yet! It’s time to celebrate all of the accomplishments the green movement has made and to think about all that is left to do. This year, why not make some new Earth Day traditions to insure that the day will be fun and educational for our crafty kidlets, family and friends?

There are a lot of resources on the web to help you plan your events. Kaboose is a family centered website with a whole section dedicated to celebrating Earth Day with the family. My favorite part, of course, are the crafts. This site has detailed instructions for creative recycled material crafts you can do on Earthday or any day! Some of my favorites projects include the coffee ground fossils, recycled crayon earth ornaments, and toothbrush bracelets.

PlanetPals.com is another fun resource filled with stories, coloring pages, games, science and crafts to help make Earth Day one of your kids new favorite holidays.

Other things you can do to celebrate Earth Day as a family:

  • plant a tree (or two)
  • clean up a local park
  • make Earth Day cards for friends with recycled magazines
  • craft some Junk Mail Beads
  • have a electronics-free day

There is so much fun to be had while learning about the environment. What are some of the ways you plan on celebrating Earth Day 2008??

Images of these adorable Handmade Reversible Enamel “Give a Hoot” Necklaces are from VerreEncore, they are $6 off until April 25th in observance of the holiday!

Juliet Ames breaks plates for a living. A metals and craft major at Towson University, Ames went on to work for the Howard County Arts Council organizing gallery exhibits. Meanwhile, she kept up her own craftwork. The plate-breaking started with a mosaic mailbox. “There were leftover pieces, so I soldered them and wrapped them around my neck and got a lot of compliments,” says Ames, 28, who just had her first child, a boy.

  1. I’m celebrating by spinning and knitting some sustainable yarns! Later this week, I’m supporting local agriculture on Saturday by helping out at an alpaca shearing day and then buying some fiber!

  2. Here at TitanTv, we’re so proud to hear that everyone is chipping in and doing their best to participate in Earth Day 2008. Here is a funny piece we did, while informing people in the streets of New York, how they, too, can have a great April 22nd.
