Green Crafter Profile: Recycling Meets Function at ReFabulous

Connie Crawley blends recycled materials with a penchant for making functional objects in her shop ReFabulous. From pin cushions to tote bags, she makes cute recycled goods with a vintage feel.

I’m completely in love with her dryer sachets. They’re made from recycled fabric and stuffed with lavender buds. Each one lasts through about 10 loads of laundry, but she encourages customers to “recharge the scent with a few drops of lavender essential oil.” What a perfect alternative to those icky, chemical-laden dryer sheets!

Connie says she gets her inspiration from:

things I do and use every day. I like to make items that can actually be used, and are practical and pretty, sturdy and fun, all while using reclaimed materials. I’m also inspired by the unique fabrics, patterns, prints, colors and textures I find on my thrift store hunts.

It’s really hard to resist spoiling my kitties with a set of her Sally Cat’s favorite catnip mice! Each one has a catnip core and it made from reclaimed fabric, rescued embroidery thread, and a cotton cord tail. She’ll even customize the little mice, adding a bell or leaving out the catnip on request.

You can check out all of Connie’s lovely handmade wares in the ReFabulous shop! She also has a blog where she documents her crafty adventures.
