Have a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces? You totally do!
If your puzzle is only missing a piece or two, it’s easy to DIY your own substitute puzzle piece. If your puzzle is missing several pieces, however, it’s no longer a puzzle. It’s a craft supply!
Check out the following ideas for ways to re-use the pieces from incomplete jigsaw puzzles:
leafy puzzle piece tree: One of the best things about puzzle pieces is how versatile the shapes are. I Heart Crafty Things painted puzzle pieces as leaves to make a three-dimensional autumn tree collage.
- puzzle piece snowflake: As this puzzle piece snowflake ornament shows, the sturdy cardboard construction of puzzle pieces lends them well to a wide variety of sculptural projects.
- puzzle piece jar filler: Even damaged or otherwise un-reusable puzzle pieces work as a jar filler to hold cake pops, photo booth props, or party favors. If you’re the crafty parent of a toddler, you can use the same concept to make a puzzle piece sensory tub.

I love these ideas! We have a few Bella Sara puzzles that are missing pieces, but the kiddo still enjoys making the puzzles. In a few years though, I should have lots of fun puzzle fodder!
