5 Recycled Felt Craft Projects

recycled felt

Got some recycled felt in your stash? We have some project ideas for you!

Recycled felt is one of my favorite green craft supplies. It’s made from reclaimed plastic bottles, and it’s a joy to cut and sew. I also love that unlike woven fabrics, felt doesn’t fray. Right, so it’s basically made of magic! Of course, felt isn’t right for every project. It doesn’t drape, and it’s on the stiff site. Where felt really shines is in functional pieces, as you’ll see in the projects in this slideshow.

Could you use conventional, not-recycled felt to make these projects? Of course! If that’s what’s in your stash, it’s much more environmentally responsible to use it than to toss it in the trash. But when your stash is run out, I highly recommend picking up recycled felt to replace it. It’s just as durable, affordable, and versatile as conventional synthetic felt, but you get to feel good about diverting waste from the landfill. Not too shabby, right?
