Have a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces? You totally do!

If your puzzle is only missing a piece or two, it’s easy to DIY your own substitute puzzle piece. If your puzzle is missing several pieces, however, it’s no longer a puzzle. It’s a craft supply!

Check out the following ideas for ways to re-use the pieces from incomplete jigsaw puzzles:

  • puzzle piece gift tags: I really like how these puzzle piece gift tags from Mel Designs are given a ton of extra embellishment, but they wouldn’t have to be. You could simply drill a hole, add your info to the blank back, and be done!
  • puzzle piece pin or magnet: As with this puzzle piece ghost pin from Crafty Moms Share, a single decorated puzzle piece can be easily crafted into either a refrigerator magnet or simple brooch.
  • puzzle piece altered art: I’ve seen embellished puzzle pieces as components of smash books, journals, ATCs and any other altered art that you can think of. Although the jigsaw shape works almost universally, you can reshape most standard pieces with strong scissors, a sharp x-acto knife, and sandpaper.

  1. I love these ideas! We have a few Bella Sara puzzles that are missing pieces, but the kiddo still enjoys making the puzzles. In a few years though, I should have lots of fun puzzle fodder!
