After a particular color is dyed, rinse and wash as usual in your washing machine, leaving the baggies tied shut. This prevents any bleed-out of excess dye, and makes the entire dye process much simpler and more user-friendly.
After a particular fabric section has been dyed and then washed, however, untie the baggies and remove the fabric. I like to undo the rubber band that’s tied between a dyed section of fabric and an adjacent undyed section, so that I can slightly overdye it with the next color to make a smooth transition.
