Looking for some tooth fairy ideas? Turn your Halloween candy wrappers into this cute, upcycled Tooth Fairy Tin.

The grocery aisles are yet again lined with Halloween candy! And chances are, you’ve already thrown a bag or two into your shopping cart. So, have you cracked them open yet? If you have, don’t worry. You’re not alone. Let’s be real, the candy you buy for trick-or-treaters will likely be purchased a few days before All Hallows’Eve. All the ones you buy until then are simply quick go-to items for snack attacks. The good news: you can use the wrappers as materials for this crafty Tooth Fairy Tin.

This DIG (Do It Green) project is a great way to put those candy wrappers to good use. And if you love those over-the-top minty-mints that come in those cute aluminum tins, you’re in for a double recyclable tooth fairy idea. No more storing pennies in those empty tins. We’re about to turn them into something so adorbs that the tooth fairy will chuckle so hard she’ll leave pixie dust all over your kid’s pillow.

Materials for your Tooth Fairy Tin

  • 1 mint tin
  • Candy wrappers
  • Craft glue
  • Cotton balls
  • Small piece of fabric (an old t-shirt will work nicely)
  • Scissors
  • Foam brush

Get crafting!

1. Cut your candy wrappers into fun shapes.

2. With a foam brush, glue your candy wrappers onto the top of the mint tin.

3. Once the glue is dry, give it a topcoat of extra glue to make the outside shiny.

4. Line the inside of the tin with cotton balls.

5. Cover the cotton balls with a small piece of fabric. Tuck in the sides. You can also glue the fabric to the sides of the tin.

6. Let all the glue dry and your tin is ready for your child’s tooth.

The Sweet Idea Behind This Craft

First, it’s a great project to do with your kids. Second, it sets up a fun ritual for when your boy or girl loses a tooth. The tooth goes in the tin; the tin slides under a pillow (so it doesn’t get lost) and then in the morning, the tooth fairy has swapped out that tooth for some cash.

Now here’s the best part! Once your child loses that very last baby tooth, the tooth fairy actually keeps the tin. It’s a pretty good place for her (or anyone else you can think of) to store away as a toothy time capsule.
