How To: Update a Vintage Chandelier

Have you ever come across a vintage chandelier at a thrift store or garage sale, but were turned off by it’s “blahness?” Here’s how you can update a vintage chandelier and bring it back to life!

What You Will Need:

1. A vintage chandelier

2. Low VOC spray paint

3. Painter’s tape

How To Do It:

1. Clean your chandelier. My chandelier was in great condition, but was a bit blah for me. Here’s what I started out with:

2. Tape off the areas that you don’t want to paint. I also removed the glass globe that covered the light bulb and then taped off the area. This step will vary depending on your light.

3. Spray paint the entire chandelier. If you are able to hang your light to paint it, that will make it easier. Remember, light coats are the best— heavy coats will give you drips! Don’t forget to spray paint the part underneath, too. I spray painted my piece a mustard yellow— it seemed similar to the original color, but had a little more pizazz!

4. Once the chandelier has completely dried, put the pieces of the chandelier back together.

Now you have an awesome and funky chandelier that is sure to make a statement in your home!
