4 Clever Bottle Cap Crafts for Non-Recyclable Plastic Caps

4 Clever Bottle Cap Crafts
Wouldn’t it be awesome to have this collection as wall art? There are so many fun bottle cap crafts to reuse those often un-recyclable plastic tops.

We shouldn’t use plastic bottles at all, but plastic bottle caps are on milk cartons, orange cartons, and even yogurt drinks. We can’t escape them, even if we don’t drink bottled water. So what do we do with all those non-recyclable plastic bottle caps? Collect them and make these cool functional bottle cap crafts!

I posted about an artist who uses PET plastic bottles to make bowls yesterday and it made me think about what to do with all those UN-recyclable bottle caps so that they don’t end up in the landfill.

These plastic caps are NOT recyclable in many areas which is another reason why you shouldn’t buy plastic bottles or paper cartons that use these caps. But if you have to buy them and end up with these bottle caps, you can use them to make bottle cap crafts! Here are some clever ideas for making crafts just with bottle caps.

1. Bottle Cap Photo Frame

You can make picture frames like this one by gluing caps around a piece of glass or recycled plastic film and attaching a cardboard backing to hold your photo in place.

2. Mini Bottle Cap Bird’s Nests

Make bird’s nest magnets by using some jute rope for the nests, and silly putty as eggs. Dab a drop of E6000 on the bottom of the cap and attach a magnet. And voila! You now have birds’ nests as magnets. How cute are these?

4. Bottle Cap Soap Dish

You know how your soap gets all messy and goopey on a soap dish? It’s because the soap sits in water and it makes your fancy soap disappear faster. Make this little soap dish that keeps your soap dry, by allowing the excess water to drain away faster. EcoEtsy shares how you can make one of your own.

How would you use up your old bottle caps?

    1. She’ll have the driest soap in the building! Seriously, it’s a great way to use up the caps while keeping her soap dry. Have fun making it!

  1. Love all the ideas for recycled bottlecaps.  I think I would glue them onto a piece of plexi glass, cut to the measurements of my bathroom window, and use as a privacy screen.  Would be pretty, and private while letting in the sunshine.

  2. We put letters on our milk caps and use them to learn spelling words, spell names, make up spelling games. We also made a matching travel game with them. Two of each sticker on the top turn over to match.

  3. I used some today to make some stamps for my two-year-old son. I glued/applied some small foam stickers to the outer side (the top) of several lids and then hot glued a small wooden spool to the inside to make a small handle. Once the glue dried, we had fun using the new stamps with different colored inks to stamp some paper sacks to use for Christmas wrapping paper!!
