Eco Packaging: Etsy Shopping Ephemera

Etsy EphemeraOver the past week or so I have been sharing sources for Eco Packaging Handmade For You, because a popular tip for all crafters is to make your packaging creative. But we don’t all have time or our creativity is reserved for our fabulous products. There are however some sellers that truly excel at the packaging ephemera. To wrap up the series I wanted to share with you some of my favorite seller ephemera from purchases I have made on Etsy.

These sellers should serve as an inspiration to us all when it comes to packaging. One thing you will notice with all of these sellers is the ephemera is simple, but lovely. Your packaging does not have to be extravagant or expensive. Instead aim for simple and thoughtful as these sellers have.

  1. My Forsythia Linen Swatch order from Cicada Studio was neatly wrapped in tissue and tied up with brown/white bakers twine and a business card.  Michelle wrote a thank you on the back of the card.  Her package also included a little freebie sticky note pad featuring one of her designs (and smartly branded with her website).
  2. I ordered some vintage pant hangers from Art School Girl and was delighted to see this hand written packing slip with my order. Also, she included a blank business size note card with envelope. The freebie card captures the essence of her shop.
  3. My fabric sample pack from Swanky Swell came neatly tied up with this paper tag. It is adorned with one of the fabric designs and a personal thank you on the reverse.
  4. I got these gorgeous letterpress frame mats from Sycamore Street Press as a wedding gift. My order came with a simple hand written thank you. I love the letterpress print at the bottom of the thank you and immediately added it to my paper stash for future incorporation into a scrapbook page.
  5. My Modern Boy Baby Book from Edna Mae Baby came with a personal thank you written on a piece of designer paper that matched the book. I plan to use the printed elements at the end of the card in my son’s scrapbook.

  1. Good ideas. I love the little extras. I’ve been thinking about revamping my receipt/invoices lately–love the hand-written touch. I always wrap my items in reused tissue paper and tie it with a scrap of fabric. I like reusing supplies rather than adding to the landfill and buying new and my customers appreciate that as well. (I hope they also reuse the wrapping paper again!)
