Tips For Coloring Britannic Coloring Pages
What colors should I use for a Britannic coloring page?
The colors that you should use can vary based on the era you’re looking to represent. The Britannic, sister ship to the Titanic, was originally painted in a white and buff color scheme for its planned role as a passenger liner, but was repainted in drab gray when it was requisitioned for use as a hospital ship during World War I.
How can I add more detail and realism to my Britannic coloring?
Apart from just focusing on the colors of Britannic, you can make your coloring page more realistic by adding the smaller details such as the appropriate number of lifeboats, the four funnels, the large red crosses when it served as a hospital ship, and the distinguishing features like the modified bow and larger portholes as compared to its sister ship Titanic.
Are there any significant features of the Britannic that I should pay attention to while coloring?
Yes, the Britannic had a few design changes in response to the Titanic disaster. These included the addition of a double hull along the engine and boiler rooms and the raising of six out of the fifteen watertight bulkheads. Also, unlike other ships, when used as a hospital ship during World War I, the Britannic had large red crosses painted on its side to indicate its purpose.
Can you provide some interesting facts about the Britannic that I could incorporate into my art?
Yes, despite being built as a luxury liner, the Britannic never served in that capacity. It was requisitioned by the British government before it could enter commercial service. It hit a naval mine in the Aegean Sea and sank, becoming the largest ship lost during World War I. Many believe it was a more beautiful and refined design than its sisters, Titanic and Olympic. Incorporating these elements could make your artwork very interesting.
