I found an old lampshade at a thrift store and thought it was the perfect shape for my vintage lamp. I didn’t like the fabric on the outside, though, so I decided to give it a makeover!
What You Will Need:
1. An old lamp shade
2. Twine. If you can, use hemp twine!
3. Scissors
How To Do It:
1. Remove the fabric from the lampshade. I simply cut into mine and tore the fabric off of the metal base.
2. Tie a knot at the top of your lampshade.
3. Then, begin wrapping your twine around your lampshade. I tried to space mine evenly, but you could also have an abstract, random pattern.
Once you’re satisfied with how the twine looks, make another knot to keep the twine in place. I put mine on my vintage lamp and I’m totally loving it so far!
In the future, I might take the twine off and spray paint the metal part of the lampshade the same teal color as the lamp and then add the twine. For now, though, I love it!
