How To: Embroidery Hoop Easter Eggs

DIY Embroidery Hoop Easter Eggs

This week my mom came to visit me from Florida and brought me a bunch of garage sale goodies! Among all of the treasures were two oval embroidery hoops. As soon as I saw them, I thought they looked like eggs so I decided upcycle them into adorable Easter eggs!

What You Will Need:

1. Oval embroidery hoops. If you like to embroider, you might already have these on hand. If not, try looking at thrift stores or garage sales before you think about buying them at the craft store.

2. Fabric. I used felt that a friend gave to me for my craft projects! If you can, use the eco-friendly fabrics we’ve shared in our fab fabrics category.

3. Buttons or other items to decorate your “eggs.”

4. Scissors.

5. Hot glue/hot glue gun.

How To Do It:

1. Separate the two hoops by loosening the screw on the side. Insert your fabric in between the two hoops and then tighten the screw. Your hoop should like like so:

2. Cut off all of the excess fabric. Here are both of my embroidery hoops with all of the excess fabric cut off:

3. Add your accessories on the “eggs” with hot glue. I wanted to keep it pretty simple so I just added buttons that I had left over from another project. You could add ribbon, hemp twine, etc. — be creative! I added yellow buttons on the purple egg:

Then, I added red buttons to the yellow egg:

Once you finish adding all of your accessories, you’re finished!

Your embroidery hoop Easter eggs could be hung up as wall art or they could go on your table as a centerpiece at a family get-together. Where would you put your embroidery hoop Easter eggs?
