Green it Up
The obvious way to make this a green project is to raid that recycle bin for cereal or beer boxes. Really, any sort of light cardboard will do. You might also want to use EcoGlue for the adhesive that this tutorial calls for.

You can up the green on your Christmas tree even more by using energy-saving LED lights in place of conventional ones.

If you’re totally slammed this year and don’t have time to make ornaments, no worries! Here are a few lovely recycled ornaments straight from Etsy:

  1. I love the snow picture. So gorgeous and calming. At least to those of us w/ out snow. We opted for a potted xmas tree this year and I love that doesn’t drop as many needles and that we can plant it in the spring.

  3. Awesome!

I grew up surrounded by beautiful Christmas Tree farms. It was positively sacriligous to have anything less than an 8 ft frasier fir! Artificial trees were a definite no-no.

Fast forward to last year. My dear hubby of 3 years and I are totally in to Mid-Century modern everything! We scored a beautiful 1950’s aluminum tree a 1960’s revolving musical tree stand and a gorgeous 1950’s color wheel light. Eco friendly re-using of old stuff!

No more silly cutting down of live trees for us!
