I don’t know about you, but the 4th of July isn’t one of those holidays that I do a lot of crafting or decorating for. I know that the day of, I’m mostly going to be spending my time getting drunk in my backyard and blowing stuff up, so why bother?

We’re going to a party this year, however, because I have friends who don’t mind how weird I am, and because I’m from the South, I am willing to do a lot more to pitch in for a friend’s party than I would do on my own. And yet…

Beer drinking. Fireworks shooting. Keep the rest of it quick and simple, I say, so that there’s more time for the important stuff.

And that’s how I ended up nailing down this list of quick, easy, kid-friendly, eco-friendly Independence Day crafts, decorations, and recipes. You don’t have to devote an entire day to decorations or party prep or cooking with these simple tutes. Just throw up a starfruit-stamped bunting, Bro. Let the kids make toilet paper tube rockets. Buy some blueberries.

And there’s your 4th of July, all decorated and celebrated!
