I don’t know about you, but if spring doesn’t come quickly I just might go bonkers! And with a 1/4 inch of ice on my deck right now (and more snow predicted for this week) I’m guessing I’ll have to get really creative if I want to channel some warm vibes.

Upcycled flowers will certainly spruce up my house – and mood. So I thought I’d break into my recycle bin and show you all how to make pop bottle flowers. They’re really easy and you can dot them all over your home until the REAL flowers pop up outside

Here’s what you need:

  • Plastic water or pop bottle
  • Pink paint
  • White paint
  • Paint brush
  • Scissors

Here’s how you put it together:

  1. Measure ½ to ¾ of an inch from bottom of water bottle.
  2. Mark the bottle and cut away the top part. The bottom part of the bottle will be your flower. Recycle the top part. As you’re cutting around the bottle, cut in a wavy pattern to give your flower more of a petal-effect.
  3. Paint the under side of the “flower” with pink paint. Not the inside! And you can use whatever color paint your want. I just thought pink would be nice.
  4. Once it’s dry, paint a white dot on the inside, center of your “flower.” You could also glue on a button or some of those plastic gems from the craft store. Use whatever your heart desires.

Now what?
So now you’ve got a plastic flower, but what can you do with it? I glue a magnet onto the back of mine so I can put it on my fridge. If you have a tween, it also makes a nice locker decoration.

You can also glue these to the fronts of bottles, vases, frames or even Mother’s Day cards.I’ve even glued them to a twig and then put them in a vase of their own. So many options!
