Are you a crafter for hire looking to make some money at crafting a green world? My company – Pono Home – is hiring a seamstress to create part of our green living kits.
If you’re a regular reader here, odds are you’re pretty talented at crafting all sorts of cool goodies for friends and family. But here’s a different adventure: my company, Pono Home, is looking to rid the world of plastic forks, knives, and spoons, and single use napkins. We have a model of how to do this, and it involves PeopleTowels, silverware harvested from Goodwill, and someone crafty and sustainable enough to help us make it happen!
Pono Home is all about sustainability: delivered. We go into peoples’ homes and green them top to bottom. Hot water heater set to the wrong temp? We change it. Inefficient lights hanging in a sconce 20 feet off the ground? We change them out. Dryer running inefficiently? We vacuum out the lint vent and lint trap. Tires underinflated? We test them and pump them up right there on the spot.
Our Green Living Kits
We want to help people continue their sustainability journey, and that’s where you come in. We offer customers a Home Eco-Kit. This kit includes things like a sink plunger (so they can stop buying Drain-o and other toxic chemicals, and of course, we give them resources like natural drain cleaner recipes), a tire pressure gauge, an organic cotton shopping bag, reusable produce bags, a stainless steel water bottle, and other cool stuff to help people live a greener life.
One of these items is a portable silverware set wrapped up in a reusable napkin. People put these in their backpacks, purses and briefcases, and bust ’em out when the other option is single-use plastic.
Becky did a tutorial for the wraps that we need, which you can check out here. We want someone to create these the “burrito style” she outlays at the bottom of that article. We need a seamstress with basic sewing skills to create short runs of these wraps. This is a work-from-home position.
We’re basically seeking someone who wants to make these in batches whenever we need them. We’ll pay for materials plus labor…all we need is a bid. If you’re interested in the job, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
