- birthdays: If you want to give someone a handful of LEGOs for their birthday (which would be a GREAT gift!), put your mind to making something small with the collection first.
Kids: Kids’ stuff goes in and out of favor like you would not believe–one day something is in, and the next day it’s out! But if you can get your kids to make some of their stuff out of LEGOs, then they get to have fun making something, they get to have fun playing with it, and then they get to have fun taking it apart and making something brand-new.

- toys: Obviously, a kid could come up with a billion LEGO toys, but if you need some inspiration, try building a LEGO top, or a balloon-powered LEGO car, or an earthquake-proof LEGO tower.
- games: Can’t find the game board or all the right pieces? Improvise with LEGOs! For inspiration, check out LEGO chess, LEGO Settlers of Catan, and LEGO Clue.
- school stuff: LEGOs can be made into temporary manipulatives for tons of academic skills, such as skip counting, number value, and letter recognition. And there’s no plastic alphabet to get rid of when you’re done!
House Stuff: Maybe today you really need that pencil cup, desk organizer, cell phone holder, or bookend, but what about after your next home redesign? Save yourself some money and an eventual Goodwill donation by constructing what you need out of LEGOs, and then deconstructing it when you’re done.
