This Weekend: Atlanta’s Indie Craft Experience

Summer Indie Craft Experience

Fellow Atlantans, are you ready? The Indie Craft Experience is this very weekend!

This weekend marks the 14th Indie Craft Experience, and it’s going to be a doozy. Christy Petterson and Shannon Mulkey organize the twice-yearly Atlanta craft market featuring local and national vendors alike. They do an amazing job curating this show, and if you live anywhere near Atlanta, it’s definitely worth heading down to Ambient Plus Photo Studio this weekend to check it out. The show is Saturday and Sunday, June 2nd and 3rd, from 11am to 6pm both days.

So, what’s green at this year’s Indie Craft Experience?

  • Caitlin Jo Designs – Texas crafter Caitlin Jo uses reclaimed and vintage pieces to create stunning jewelry.
  • Common Artery – Artist Ashley Coxwell creates lovely reclaimed jewelry
  • Ibby & Rufus – Not all of their jewelry is recycled, but I’m pretty intrigued by their line of upcycled bullet shell jewelry!
  • Jasper Hilburn – More upcycled jewelry goodness! Are you starting to see a trend here?
  • Madeline Smiles – Madeline uses reclaimed silver and copper in her work as well as bone from grass fed animals.
  • Painted Oyster – Super adorable upcycled clothing featuring vintage necktie details.
  • Refashioned Goods – Upcycled clothing and postcards from vintage ephemera.
  • So She Sews – Brooke creates upcycled clothing and accessories from vintage fabrics and from recycled plastic bags.
  • Stress the Seams – If you can think it, they have probably made it out of salvaged license plates.
  • Truly Radiant – Homemade organic and all natural skincare products.
  • Whispering Willow – Natural, handcrafted soap, lip balm, laundry detergent, and more!
  • Willaby – Natural and organic goodies for the kiddos.
  • Zass Design – Upcycled jewelry made from recycled paper printed materials, PET plastic bottles, and aluminum cans

On top of the awesome vendors there’s also a craft competition hosted by Atlanta Institute of Stitches and Crafts (I KNOW!) and an Art Swap, where you can trade your old art for new-to-you pieces. You can check out more deets about the show, including directions and a map over at the Indie Craft Experience website. I hope to see some of you locals out this weekend!

If you run a crafty business, ICE is a great show to sell at. They’re careful about where they set you up, there’s an ATM on-site, and they do a phenomenal job marketing the show. ICE happens twice a year, and if you want to apply for an upcoming Indie Craft Experience the best way to keep up with them is to sign up for their newsletter (use the firm on the right sidebar of the website). They send out reminders about when it’s time to apply to each of their events.
