Shoe Garden

This is a great example of finding DIY opportunities in unexpected places. San Francisco’s Alamo Square Shoe Garden is full of upcycled inspiration! Broken shoes or kicks that have lost their partners are transformed into whimsical planters.

Of course, if you don’t have any broken shoes handy, you can look to other unusual containers for the garden. My husband drilled holes in the back of our old, broken medicine cabinet and turned that into a flower planter, for example. It’s doing a much better job as a planter than it ever did as storage.

So tell me, crafty gardenistas! What DIY plans do you have to spruce up your spring garden?
