DIY Style: Wardrobe Refashion

Got a closet full of clothes that just need a little love? Or maybe you’re thrifting-obsessed and just need some motivation to turn your finds into something really special! Either way, Wardrobe Refashion might be just the thing you need!

It’s a collaborative blog where membership opens up periodically, and it just so happens that they’re looking for participants now until August 31st! Check out their awesome pledge:

I pledge that I shall refashion, renovate, recycle preloved items for myself for the term of my contract. I pledge that I shall create and craft items of clothing for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of the contract.

The guidelines for the challenge are simple, and this looks like a great chance to get your recycling on! Here are the four little rules:

1. Buy nothing new, unless it’s handmade. There are a few exceptions, but they encourage you to even give things like making your own undies a shot!
2. You get one “Get out of Refashionista Jail Free card” for every two months that you’re participating, if there’s a situation where you just can’t adhere to the rules.
3. Post your projects to the blog at least once a week.
4. Be honest. If you slip up, you’ve got to share with the community!

You can sign up for two months, four months, six months, or, for the really ambitious you can sign up for life! Even if you don’t take the official pledge, there’s all manner of upcycling inspiration to take in.
