2. Furniture
Literally all of the furniture in my home is from garage sales, thrift stores, or Craigslist. I don’t even think I personally own any furniture that was bought new from a store. Here are a few examples of furniture pieces that I’ve bought (and redone) from my home:
- Before and After: My Bed — I bought the bed at a thrift store for $20 and painted it teal!
- Vintage Lamp Redo from my Bedroom — There are plenty of ugly lamps out there, but remember they can be transformed with a can of low VOC spray paint!
- Antique Dresser Makeover — I bought the dresser on Craigslist for $30 and painted it yellow!
Furniture is so expensive and most furniture now is made from compressed materials. Real wood furniture can be redone and will last a lot longer than furniture made from compressed materials. Plus, it’s so much fun to find a bargain! You can make your house look incredible on a tight budget. Good topic to cover. It’s strange to me though how reusing is trendy when many my age and older have done this most of our lives. I buy as many supplies as I can from thrift stores, etc. I feel fortunate when I find a large stash of fabric or yarn someone gave to the thrift shop 🙂

I love buying craft supplies at thrift stores, and re purposing trash into supplies. Not everyone has the time to scour thrift stores however. Also when you have a project and you need an awesome blue tie, you might not be able to find one that same day at your local thrift store. That’s why I started Courgette, my Artfire shop to share my vintage and repurposed craft supplies.
