Oh my gosh, y’all. Thanksgiving is THIS WEEK. I’m in charge of cooking for all of the vegetarian and vegan guests this year, so that means I am going to need something for my kid to do during the not-kid-friendly parts of the cooking process. These Thanksgiving crafts for kids will occupy the littles so you can cook, set the table, and maybe even eat in peace.

Thanksgiving Crafts from Natural Materials

1. Gourdo Greenface – You can apply the adhesive hook and loop ahead of time for smaller kids, or let big kids do this project from start to finish.

2. Decorate a Thank You Box – Let the kids turn an old shoebox into a Thank You Box, then everyone can write something they’re thankful for!

3. Coffee Can Turkey – To minimize mess, you might want to paint these in advance. You can use glue dots instead of glue for younger kids, to minimize mess.

4. Bubble Wrap Indian Corn – Dive into your stash of salvaged bubble wrap (what? just me?), and let the kids turn it into sweet harvest decorations.

Filling clear glass ornaments is no sweat for most crafters. But I've got some out of the "globe" ideas that will set yours apart from the rest!

5. Filled Ornaments – If your kids are younger, you can use plastic ornaments instead, so you won’t have to micro-manage this Thanksgiving kid craft.

6. Painted Acorns – This project only uses a teeny bit of paint – something to stress before you walk away. I think using old nail polish would be a great way to contain the mess.

7. Recycled Paper Acorns – For younger kids, cut the shapes in advance. For older kids, you can just hand them the supplies and directions and let them go!

8. Apple Pomander – This is a great fine motor activity that kids can get really engrossed in, and it makes your house smell amazing!

DIY Halloween Ideas: Pumpkin Napkin Ring

9. Pumpkin Napkin Rings – Put those kids to work getting the table together! When they’re done making these cute, recycled napkin rings, they can be in charge of wrapping and laying out the silverware.
