DIY Decor: Review of Rooms Repurposed by Cristin Frank

DIY Decor: Rooms RepurposedI’m a long-time fan of Cristin Frank from the site Eve of Reduction. She shares some great green crafts on her website, so I was excited when she contacted me about her new ebook all about DIY decor: Rooms Repurposed.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of Rooms Repurposed for this review. All opinions are 100% my own.

Rooms Repurposed is all about purposefully planning your home to maximize space and minimize the cost of your DIY decor. She encourages readers to rethink the conventional definitions of rooms. Living room? No! Why not make that space your “Book club meeting space, meditation room, first floor laundry with pet cove?”

This kind of rethinking goes hand-in-hand with green crafting, doesn’t it? Conventional crafters may see an old pasta sauce jar, but we see a craft supply. When it comes to DIY decor, redefining our spaces helps save space, money, and resources, and Frank walks you through how to do this with repurposed style.

DIY Decor: Rooms RepurposedThe book is full of beautiful photos showing examples of rooms designed with purpose, and there are lots of opportunities for upcycling! She gives you options for decorating rooms, so you can use what you have or what’s available at thrift stores, yard sales, and consignment shops. She also includes tutorials for making your own DIY decor pieces by using furniture and supplies that you have on hand.

There are recommendations for new furniture to decorate your multi-functional spaces, and not all of these are the greenest options. The job of having crafty skills is that we can skip buying new and make do instead.

You can find Rooms Repurposed on Cristin’s website.
