Homemade All Purpose Cleaner (with a printable label!)

Homemade All Purpose Cleaner (with a printable label!)

Other all purpose cleaners can have harsh chemicals and other harmful ingredients — try our homemade all purpose cleaner that only requires a few ingredients!

Spring Cleaning Week has been incredible so far! If you haven’t checked out our homemade soft scrub, homemade cleaning wipes, homemade laundry detergent, and homemade wood polish, you totally should! To add to the incredible-ness, today I’m sharing a homemade all purpose cleaner.

I have to admit, Becky and Julie totally helped me with this recipe. I’m all for green crafts, but I’ve only dipped my toes in the pool of natural cleaners. I’m a germ freak when it comes to my kitchen and I often found myself using bleach because I thought it would kill the most germs. Unfortunately, there are dangers of using bleach. Instead, Becky and Julie encouraged me to try a safe alternative. Another reason to try it (as if you need one) — it’s super cheap, which is fantastic for my I’m-paying-back-student-loans budget.

What You Will Need:

1. White vinegar

2. Water

3. A spray bottle. You can use an old bottle from another cleaner or buy a new one.

4. Essential oil (optional; more on essential oils in a bit!)

5. Our printable all purpose cleaner label (optional)

6. Paper and a printer (optional)

7. Packing tape (optional)

How To Do It:

1. If you’re using an old spray bottle, clean it out! You don’t want your previous cleaner to mess up your new natural recipe.

2. Fill your bottle half way with white vinegar.

3. Fill the remaining half of your bottle with water.

4. (Optional) Add essential oils. The 3 best essential oils for cleaning are lemon, peppermint, and tea tree. The amount of oil you put in your mixture will depend on the size of your bottle and the strength of the smell you would like. In Becky’s recipe, she recommends starting with 10 drops and then adding 5 drops at a time until you get the smell that you desire.

5. (Optional) Download and print the all purpose cleaner label. Then, cut it out.

6. Attach it to the bottle by covering it entirely with packing tape. Packing tape will not only attach it to the bottle, but will protect it from any liquid, too.

Grab a DIY t-shirt rag and you’re ready to clean! I’ve heard that acidic cleaners (like vinegar) can damage the finish on granite or marble counter tops, so if you have granite or marble counter tops, try an all purpose cleaner recipe that uses peroxide instead of vinegar.
