How To: Create a Plant Stand Side Table

Last week I bought an adorable plant stand at a garage sale. I stared at it sitting in my living room and thought, “Those curved feet are just too cute! I wish I could make it into a table.” So, I transformed it into a table!

Of course, garage sales aren’t the only places where you can find your plant stand for this project. If getting up early to shop yard sales on the weekend isn’t your thing, you can also shop online for gently used supplies like these. Craigslist and eBay are great resources, or you can find second-hand items to upcycle in your next craft project through our site sponsor, Localmart.

Got your plant stand ready? Let’s make a table.

What You Will Need:

1. A plant stand

2. A round piece of wood. I used a lazy susan that I already had on hand.

3. Paint/paint brushes. I used a combination of yellow low VOC spray paint and black latex paint for the top.

How To Do It:

1. If you want to paint the top of your table, you should do all of your painting first. My mom was the artist for this project. She spray painted it yellow, and then did the bee design on top. I would also recommend giving it a coat of natural furniture wax to protect your paint job. You could paint the plant stand, too, but it’s completely up to you!

2. Once your piece of wood has dried, place it on top of the plant stand.

That’s it! You don’t even have to attach the top to the plant stand. This would be a cute side table in the living room, a fun night stand, or patio table! Where would you use your plant stand side table?

I have visited your site several times a week for a few years, and today for the first time my McAfee anti-virus software gave me a warning about some “risks” with this site. I hope not!
