The resuable tote bag gained popularity with the eco movement. They were something utilarian, a way to conserve resources and stop using the disposable paper and plastic bags featured at stores. Now they have become a fashion statement, a beautiful new medium for atists and crafters to express themselves with, becoming functionable art.
Author Jitesh Patel has found a wide variety of artists, crafters and designers and is showcasing their work in The Tote Bag. It’s a fun book filled with great designs from artists around the world.
About the Book & Author:
The tote bag is an eco product for this century, destined to replace disposable plastic bags. The canvas bag has become increasingly popular in recent years, as more people have become environmentally conscious, concerned about climate change and aware of the impact of their carbon footprint. The media reminds us all to be more conscious of the world we live in, and environmental issues are inescapable. The tote bag artworks that are most striking, inventive, ironic and original have formed the basis of this book. I have received many positive and encouraging responses from designers while researching the topic; most have commented that it was a great subject for a book. I hope the readers of this book will share our enthusiasm.Jitesh Patel launched the Tote Prints blog to celebrate his large collection of tote bags. He uses his blog to celebrate tote bag prints and the talented designers who create them. The idea is to create a platform to bring together artists and tote bag prints and to showcase them to a wider audience.

Never have enough totes. Love making them for others too!
Reusable bags are MY LIFE! I make as many reusable bags as i can and give them away to friends. I’m always looking for new inspiration for different bags. This would be a dream for me!
love making bags and giving them to my children to decorate and sell to raise funds for their school (no art, gym or music makes it a school definitely in need of the funds)

Count me in!
Hooray for tote bags! I find it shocking how few people I see with them at the grocery store. 🙁
I have yards and yards of fabric skirting that was going to be tossed out. A friend gave it to me and I have been trying to come up with a plan for it. Tote Bags!!!! The blue fabric will need a few embellishments over some of the old seams but should work great. Thanks for the vision! Tote Bags, of course.
Cute tote. 🙂 Thanks for doing the giveaway.
Ireland introduced a plastic bag levy in 2002, and since then most people use reusable tote bags when shopping. I know my local shopkeepers here in NYC think I’m crazy for always using my resuable bags but I’m hoping I can inspire people to do the same!
I love totebags!! Thanks for having the giveaway!!!
Huh, cool 🙂 I haven’t really moved past the utilitarian 99c tote bags that are occasionally the free with purchase item at the grocery store. But I’ve realized I like them a lot for certain things – like 2 milk jugs, bulky, boxed foods (pizza and cereal boxes) or carring the 8 3-ring binders to hand out to the worship team at church.
I like that Subway hands out kids meals in little reuseable bags, but for the life of me, I just can’t figure out a good way to reuse them. they are too floppy to house something like the sidewalk chalk sticks in the garage, too shallow for their carride toys, etc. Anyone have ideas?
I love my tote bags and am always looking to add to my collection. I am even starting to make some of my own for specific purposes and for others as gifts. Inspiration from The Tote Bag book would be awesome!
Great giveaway! I would love this book…and bag 🙂
Love this concept for the book!
I love it. I’ve been slowly helping my family convert over to reusable totes for grocery shopping and it’s going really well!
Yeah! I’ve always loved tote bags (have had quite a collection since the 1970s).
Love the totes, now to convince the grocery store to use them. still a foreign concept here.
I would love to win The Tote Bag book with matching tote bag 🙂
It’s crazy just how much I love a good bag. I think I have a wee bit of an obsession!
Excellent idea! I’m going to encourage my artists friends to use canvas bags to create one of a kind portable artworks.
I would love a copy of the book.
What a cute bag! I consider myself a bag lady in that I need another bag like I need another hole in my head, but yet, I still find myself buying more totes and re-usable canvas bags! 🙂
I love to make and use tote bags! Winning a copy of this book would just make my day – and the bag is lagniappe! Thanks!
I adore a cute tote! I use them for everything and I often “leave” the ones I make at friend’s houses so they have new totes to use. I even use homemade totes for my gym bag.
I love this site. Thanks for yet another incentive to keep visiting.
I love the book and the tote. This would be an outstanding combo to win. Thanks for letting me have the chance.

I love using tote bags instead of the dreaded plastic bags. Would love to have a copy of this book!
