Don’t you just love when you see kids getting excited about crafting? It’s even better when they’re fascinated with repurposed materials.

A new web series featuring 7-year-old twins Tristin and Tyler is chock full of green crafting inspiration for kids and grown-ups alike. Each short webisode features an interview with a green crafter in New York or an eco craft project that the boys walk you through. Watch their recent interview with a designer from Brooklyn who creates apparel and accessories from reclaimed umbrellas.

I was fortunate enough to connect with Tiffany Cassanova, the show’s producer, so that I could send the boys a few questions about their project. If you can handle the cuteness, read on:

Tristin and Tyler

Interview with Tristin and Tyler

CAGW: How old are you?
Tristin: 7
Tyler: 7

CAGW: What gave you the idea to start documenting folks’ stories?
Tristin: It’s fun to recycle and learn from people how to recycle and help animals and the Earth.
Tyler: Because the earth will be happy if more people recycle and take care of the Earth. And God will be happy, so it’s good to meet people and learn how they take care of the Earth.

CAGW: How did you get interested in green crafting?
Tristin: My mom taught us.
Tyler: Our mom taught us how to use stuff to make fun things.

CAGW: Why is green crafting important to you?
Tristin: It’s good to do green crafting because the world gets happier and happier, because you are taking care of it and using stuff that would just get thrown away. It’s better to use it for something fun!
Tyler: It’s good to do green crafting because you don’t have to throw it away you can just use it all over again. Because God made this world to be a good place, not a dirty place.

The boys created a green crafty project just for us, creating cute little recycled cats out of reclaimed toilet paper tubes, and they were kind enough to share the video tutorial!
