Fab Fabrics: Vintage Lovelies from RetroLabs

Vintage polkadots in orange and white.

We love vintage fabrics around here. Not only does crafting with vintage materials divert waste from the landfill, your materials basically have zero impact remaining at this point, since they were produced and discarded so long ago. I love the way the right piece of vintage cotton or bark cloth can add a touch of personality to a sewing project.

RetroLabs’ shop is full of vintage wonder, including a nice selection of sweet, gently loved fabric. Proprietress Rachel says:

Vintage fabrics have been a passion of mine for many years. When I realized I had way more than I could possibly use, I opened RetroLabs where I sell fabrics along with vintage clothing and accessories mostly from the 1950s to the 1970s. Vintage fabrics offer unique, beautiful designs in gorgeous colors. I am especially drawn to the bold flowers and colors of the 70s, maybe because I have a fond memory of them as a child. I’ve had an Earth-friendly and -loving philosophy for many years now and along with a conscious effort toward greatly reduced consumerism, buying vintage makes sense.

In addition to her vintage finds, Rachel makes upcycled children’s clothing. You can check out her fabrics in the RetroLabs Etsy shop!
