On the Mend (Part 3)

Under wire bra Continuing on our tour of how to mend your clothes (which is both good of your wallet and for the environment) this week I am covering how to fix an under wire bra.

For all the ladies out there, I’m sure you’ve had this problem. You find a bra that fits so perfectly and is so comfortable, that you wear it until one day the wire starts poking out. Well don’t fret because a simple stitch will have you back in your favorite underthing lickity split.

Hole in under wire bra

First step to fixing your favorite bra, is to put the wire back into the fabric. You can do this by snaking the wire into the fabric by pushing the fabric up over the wire and pushing the wire down a small portion at a time. Do this until the wire is well below the hole it came out of or if it won’t go any further, just enough for the hole to now have room to close.

Next take a needle and matching thread and do a simple whip stitch, which I covered in part 1, to close the hole.

Tie off your stitches and you now have your favorite bra back!

You can read about how to mend your clothes from the beginning in part 1 (whip stitch) and part 2 (buttons)
